Empower.

Belong.

Achieve.

“There is no single definition of success—and no single path through Clare Woods.”

Special education isn't just our profession—it is our collective calling.

What draws people to Clare Woods is our passion for advocacy; what keeps us here is the family we’ve built, with a leadership team grown directly from our classroom floors. Every day, we are driven to turn our vision into reality: creating a world where support is so seamless that every student inherently belongs, achieves, and thrives.

Our Mission & Vision

We empower people of all abilities through support, education, and advocacy—helping each person grow with confidence, belong in community, and achieve lifelong resilience.

We envision a world where inclusion is normalized and support so universal that our mission is accomplished — where every person is valued, regardless of ability or circumstance.

“People don’t understand us the way you do.”

Our story began in 1968 when Bartlett Learning Center—known today as Clare Woods—was founded at a time when many students with disabilities had limited educational opportunities. It was established as a place where every student would be recognized for their abilities, supported in their challenges, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Board of Directors

Behind every Clare Woods program is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to our mission. Our Board of Directors provides leadership, oversight, and community advocacy to help ensure individuals of all abilities have access to a continuum of support and opportunities that empower them to grow, belong, and thrive throughout life's journey.

Our community partners help create pathways to belonging, independence, and opportunity by investing their time, talents, resources, and expertise in the individuals and families we serve.
